Director / Academy of Executive Coaching
Stephen Daltrey brings a rare combination of travel industry expertise, leadership experience, and deep psychological insight to the speaking platform. His journey from Royal Navy Officer to senior executive across multiple travel brands—including Sally Ferries, Thomas Cook Travel Management, and Laker Airways—gives him genuine credibility when addressing the unique pressures facing today's travel leaders.
What sets Stephen apart is his extraordinary personal transformation. After experiencing a mental health crisis mid-career, he embarked on a 12-year therapeutic journey that completely reshaped his understanding of leadership and human performance. Rather than simply returning to business as usual, Stephen trained as both a Person-Centred Counsellor and Gestalt Psychotherapist, then became Director of Executive Coaching at the Academy of Executive Coaching.
Over 25 years, Stephen has coached more than 160 senior leaders worldwide—from CEOs and Admirals to global music artists and rocket scientists. He serves as Trustee for Music Minds Matter, a mental health charity, and is a qualified Mental Health First Aid Instructor. As a Fellow of the Institute of Travel & Tourism and Male Ally to Women in Travel, he recently delivered a breakout session on employee mental wellbeing at the ABTA Conference in Palma.
Stephen's speaking style is engaging, entertaining, and refreshingly authentic. He weaves captivating stories from his diverse career with practical, immediately applicable tools that help leaders and teams navigate pressure, build resilience, and foster genuine wellbeing. His audiences leave equipped with transformative concepts they can implement straight away—not just theory, but real techniques drawn from decades of supporting high-performers in fast-paced, demanding environments.
Having appeared on television and radio as a mental wellbeing expert, Stephen now returns to the travel sector with cross-industry insights that challenge conventional thinking and inspire lasting change.
